Overview

MusiCat is an iOS music app with chords, notes, and tablature for guitar, piano, bağlama, violin, and drums. The app has no backend or API. You do not need to create an account, and we never ask for any personal information such as your name, email, or location.

What Data Is Stored and Where?

All data created while using the app is stored only on your phone, within the app's own storage. This includes:

• Your preferences: chosen language, instrument, and favorite songs.
• My Songs: songs you create — audio recordings, audio files you import, and notes/chords/tablature you enter manually.

We cannot access this data; it is never uploaded to a server or linked to an account. If you delete the app, this data is removed from your device as well.

Microphone Use

MusiCat requests microphone access for two features:

• Tuning: to detect the string you play by analyzing sound in real time.
• Song recording: to record your own song in the "My Songs" section.

The tuner's audio analysis happens entirely on your device, in real time, and is never stored. Recordings you make are kept only on your device. If you deny microphone access, you can still use every other part of the app.

Export and Sharing

You can export your own songs as MIDI or audio files. This uses the standard iOS Share Sheet, and you decide where the file goes (e.g. GarageBand, Files, email). MusiCat does not see or retain this content.

No Tracking, Ads, or Analytics

• No advertising.
• No third-party analytics or tracking tools.
• No third-party ad/data SDKs.
• No cookies.

Children's Privacy

MusiCat is suitable for users of all ages and collects no personal data from anyone, including children.

Changes

This privacy policy may be updated when necessary. Updates are published on this page and the "Last updated" date above is revised.
